Shimano Ultegra XTD 14000 Big Pit Reel

The technology and price of the Ultegra XT-D 14000 defy logic. This newer model introduces two new features to improve casting performance: slow oscillation and Parallel Body design. It also comes with a spare aluminium spool and four line reducers.

Smooth, Faultless Line Lay

The slow oscillation wraps 50 turns of line onto the spool per full oscillation cycle. This slow spooling means a more precise line lay, which makes it easier for the line to leave the spool on the cast.

Reduced Line Slap

Shimano's new Parallel Body design aligns the spool parallel to the rod butt, which in turn reduces line slap when casting. This aides the line’s transmission from the spool to the target.

Sleek & Effective Line Guard

The Ultegra XT-D introduced a new and improved line guard to Shimano’s range. This line guard tapers into the reel, which looks sleek and prevents the line from getting caught behind the spool.

No Gear Twist or Rotor Flex

X-Ship reels like the Ultegra have a double bearing-supported pinion gear. This offers extra torque, since the 2 shielded A-RB ball bearings eliminate gear twist and rotor flex when fighting a fish.

Instant Drag

In practical fishing situations, the Ultegra XT-D’s super-fast instant drag only requires one full turn from off to maximum lock. This makes it much easier to play the fish.

High Build Quality

The body is made from XT-7, Shimano’s custom graphite material, favoured for its reliability, robustness and light weight. It’s finished with a machined aluminium handle and a cold forged aluminium spool.

Durable Bearings

Along with a shielded anti-rust bearing, three shielded stainless steel bearings offer extra durability. There’s also a roller bearing for smooth retrieval. A maintenance port lets you keep the bearings and gears lubricated.

Customisable

This reel comes with a spare aluminium spool and four line reducers (two 10000 and two 3500). This gives you a choice on capacity, so you can use the same reel on a boat or small waters.
